Movember: Please support this worthy cause!!
Most likely you’ve heard of the Susan Koman Foundation and the “Race for the Cure” for breast cancer. It’s a wonderful charity that draws millions of participants and donation dollars each year.
Odds are, however, you aren’t familiar with “Movember,” an equally-worthy parallel movement that is chartered with increasing funds for and awareness of men’s health issues — specifically, prostate and testicular cancer initiatives.
Consider these frightening facts:
- 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime
- Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men and 2nd most deadly
- This year 242,000 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed
- This year 8,290 men will be diagnosed with testicular cancer
How does “Movember” work?
Easy! Volunteers generously donate their faces by pledging not to shave their mustaches for the month and ask for charitable givers to support their cause. For many (and their spouses!) that’s a big commitment!
But that big commitment has raised BIG DOLLARS! The first Movember was in 2003. Last year, 854,000 participants around the world raised $126.3 million!!
I am blessed to have a long-time client and friend, Bryan Gassmann, who is volunteering his upper lip for the 3rd straight year. I’d like to share a letter I received from him last week, in hopes that you’ll consider a donation of any size. Every dollar makes a difference! Best of all, Bryan will add an additional 10% to every donation made!

Movember is a registered 501 (c)(3) charity, donations are tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Odds are, as with breast cancer, that you know someone who’s been affected by prostate or testicular cancer. Even if you don’t right now, you will over the course of your lifetime. Please join me in making a donation to help increase awareness of men’s health issues and the search for a cure.
Kind regards in giving,
